Manuel Maqueda is a professor of applied circular economy at Harvard University. Outside of academia, he is the director of SUPER, the first professional tool that enables companies to measure, reduce, and certify their plastic footprint.
 
Passionate about innovation and driven by a great entrepreneurial spirit, Maqueda is a founding partner of Kumu Thrive, a San Francisco Bay Area-located consulting and innovation agency focused on the circular economy. Kumu Thrive is Kumu’s sister nonprofit organization.
 
A pioneer and leader in mitigating and eliminating plastic-generated pollution, Maqueda is a founder and cofounder of NGOs and social initiatives like the Plastic Pollution Coalition and the award-winning documentary film Albatross. His expertise in new economic models and sustainability has allowed him to regularly advise organizations such as The Long Now Foundation, funded by Jeff Bezos.
