Dr. Indraneel Chakraborty

Professor and Department Chair, Finance Department, Miami Herbert Business School

Associate Professor Indraneel Chakraborty is a faculty member and chair of the finance department at Miami Herbert Business School. He earned a PhD in finance from Wharton, a master’s in electrical engineering and computer science from MIT, and a ​b​achelor’s degree in computer science and engineering from Indian Institute of Technology.
 
Dr. Chakraborty worked for Citadel Investments and Citigroup Global Markets Inc. for their ​fixed-income​ divisions. He has won multiple awards for his research and teaching. In 2018, Poets and Quants recognized him as one of the top 40 under 40 business school professors.
 
Dr. Chakraborty teaches classes on alternative investments and financial institutions at ​ ​Miami Herbert to undergraduates and MBA students. He teaches corporate theory to PhD students and corporate finance and investing to global executive MBA students. He also provides consulting to ​the ​Wells Fargo Investment Banking division.
 
Dr. Chakraborty’s work has been presented at prestigious venues including the University of Chicago, Stanford University, Harvard University, Cornell University, Instituto Madrileño de Formación, the U.S. Federal Reserve, the World Bank, the European Central Bank, the Bank of Chile, the National Bureau of Economic Research, and the American Finance Association, among others. His work has been published in major journals including the Journal of Financial Economics, Journal of Monetary Economics, Review of Financial Studies, Management Science, and the Economic Journal, and he has been featured in The Economist, Wall Street Journal, Reuters, and more. Dr. Chakraborty holds six patents for his work on Bluetooth wireless technology.
