Dr. John M. Mezias is a tenured faculty member at the University of Miami’s Miami Herbert Business School. He received his BS, MS, and PhD degrees from New York University’s Stern School of Business. He teaches Executive MBAs, MBAs, PhDs, and Custom Executive Programs at the University of Miami and has also taught executive programs for INSEAD, London Business School, and Seoul National University. His teaching accolades include six Excellence in Teaching Awards from MHBS and the Most Popular Professor Award from BusinessWeek Magazine’s Survey of University of Miami MBAs.
Dr. Mezias has organized strategic planning, leadership development, and innovation programs in China, England, France, Switzerland, and the United States, in addition to managing consulting projects in Brazil, Colombia, and the United States. He has worked with such firms as American Tower, AstraZeneca, Audi Latin America, Bacardi, Barrick Gold Corp., Celistics, Covidien, Driven Brands, First Choice Neurology, Fujitsu, GE Infrastructure, Grunenthal Latin America, Gulliver Prep, Havas Media, LG, Liberty Mutual, LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton, Monsanto, Nestle, Novartis, PepsiCo Brazil, Pernod Ricard, Roche, Royal Caribbean, Seagate, South Miami Hospital, Symantec, Thornton Construction, and Visa Latin America. He has also consulted on labor-related issues and served as an expert witness. He has worked with many not-for-profit organizations and has served on several Boards of Directors. Before embarking on an academic career, he co-founded and remains a director of a New York-based entertainment company.
Dr. Mezias’ research was nominated for several awards, and he won a Best Paper Award from the Academy of Management’s International Management Division. He has published in scholarly journals that include the Harvard Business Review, Strategic Management Journal, Journal of International Business Studies, Long Range Planning, Organization Science, Journal of Management, Strategic Organization, British Journal of Management, Journal of International Management, Asia Pacific Journal of Management, AIB Insights, and the Journal of Organizational Behavior. He was the editor of AIB Insights and serves on the Editorial Board of the Strategic Management Journal. He also served on the Academy of Management International Management Division’s Executive Committee for five years and was chair of the International Management Division. He is the Speaker of Miami Herbert Business School’s Faculty Council.
