Dr. Stephen Cerrone

Associate Professor, Chair of the Department of Finance, Miami Herbert Business School

Stephen is currently an Associate Professor of Professional Practice at Miami Herbert Business School, and also runs his own organizational and HR consulting firm. In his consulting, Stephen provides expertise for public and private companies in the areas of human capital strategy, organizational change, executive coaching, & advising new CHROs and HR executives on their transition to more senior HR roles.
 
Stephen is also an experienced Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) and has led the HR function in 5 different public companies across multiple industries (e.g., Burger King, Sara Lee, BankOne). He has been involved in multiple private equity transactions (e.g., sale of Burger King to a PE consortium), M & A (JPMorgan acquisition of BankOne), IPO’s (e.g., creation of two public companies from Sara Lee), & a bankruptcy (SunEdison). He has also lived and worked in London, first leading executive development for Diageo and then as the VP HR for Burger King EMEA.
 
Stephen holds a BA in Psychology and an MA & Ph.D. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology. In 2006 he was awarded the Academy of Management’s Distinguished Executive Award for his numerous contributions to HR research & practice. He is on the Board of Trustees at Roosevelt University, where he is Chair of the Compensation Committee, and is a member of the Florida State Center for Human Resource Management. Stephen is also a Certified Professional Coach with IPEC (an ICF Accredited Coaching Training Program) and is certified in the Hogan Leadership Series, Meyers Briggs (MBTI), & Leadership Versatility Index (LVI).
